It's also "for all intents and purposes," not "for all intensive purposes."

The one that gets me is 'I could care less'.
That means that you care a great deal about it.
What people mean is 'I couldn't care less'.

"intensive purposes" trends a lot closer to pure malapropism than "case and point", but both I suppose *are* eggcorn s and not 100% failure.

That, and using "of" when you mean to use "have" are two of my biggest annoyances.

I didn't complain about one person in particular, and I am just trying to help people not sound dumb. No one wants to sound dumb if they can help it.

You see this sort of writing all the time from people who are trying to sound educated. The police are some of the worst. In just about every police interview, you'll hear the officer say, "At this point in time." It would be much better to say simply, "Now." Instead of "case in point," just say, "For example." Yours also goes in the category of the misuse/overuse of "basically" and "literally." But good luck with your crusade. You're fighting an uphill battle.

Interesting. I'd never heard the term eggcorn before. I suppose this is what chomping at the bit , instead of champing at the bit, would be called. However, based on the definition you provided, I would say that "intensive purposes" is more of a malapropism. Anyway, I learned something today. Thanks!
